It’s filled by amazing, diverse and complex and lovable characters, and I love each one of them (yes Kimblee, you too); it has an excelent and well-carried plot, it made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me feel intrigued and all sort of things. But in the end, the thing that clicked for me was its core message, one that speaks about connection. The people we meet along the way and the true reason of our existence on this world, the things that really matter
I think that when Ed and Al burned their house, that October the 3rd, they were beginning a journey that, ironically, would lead them back to where they started: home, family, friends. Connection.
Like Josh Ritter says in one of my favorite songs: “Only a full house’s gonna make a home“
I think of that song and that line in particular when I think of FMA
I tried to portrait that connection in this piece, I hope that gets through~
A little context for those who don’t know: recently a woman was arrested by the Iranian morality police (who enforce mandatory headscarves and other theocratic policies) and died in custody. This has sparked massive protests across Iran.
And she wasnt even arrested for not using the hijab but bc she was using it “incorrectly”. So she was even following the law and still got killed.
They have also tried to claim that she died from natural causes, even when she was 22. And they realesed a very fake video as evidence of that.
THIS. For the love of every thing that is good, if you considered yourself a feminist or a progressive of any sort, support Iranian women. It’s not complicated what is happening. What’s wrong with you people.
In Ukraine, “life” in the usual sense of the word is starting to return, but I don’t know how I can survive what is happening around now. In November, I walked with my friend in the park, ordered pizza and sushi, went to ballet and cinema - the biggest problem was the protracted pandemic. Now I read the news about how the bodies of killed people are being burned in Mariupol, around the town where my parents live, there are thousands of pieces of military equipment, Russia may strike Ukraine with tactical nuclear weapons or begin mass mobilization to go to Kyiv again. There is no end in sight to this horror. And you understand that this is the situation when the worst can still be ahead.
